Following a storied career
and Texas state championship
at Houston's Jack Yates High
School, Ricky Winslow stayed
home to attend the University of Houston and
become one of
the final members of the school's
famed Phi Slamma Jamma
teams.
A 6'8" point guard in high school,
Winslow was better-known for his
high-wire, dunking act than for
ball handling. At UofH, he flourished
under Guy V. Lewis and the
run-
and-gun style of ball they played.
Winslow
competed in the 1984 Final Four in Seattle and,
upon
graduation, was drafted by the Milwaukee Bucks of
the NBA.
